Christmas is near, and the shops in the shire, including Narrabri, Wee Waa, and Boggabri, are full of festive goodies and gifts.

Your support for these local shops helps our community and families. Spending locally has a big positive impact.

Regarding parking, some people have found it hard to park on Maitland Street, Narrabri, during the Christmas shopping rush.

There are more parking spots further from the shops.

Please be mindful of parking time limits and reserved spaces for disabled parking to help everyone enjoy their shopping.

I love this time of the year.

However, it is not always an easy time for everyone.

Please remember those people who might be struggling a bit: people who might have lost a spouse recently, those who are struggling with illness, etc.

Christmas is an important time for us to check in on neighbours and others to share a bit of Christmas cheer.

Unfortunately the federal government did not give us much Christmas cheer.

You may have heard that the federal government withdrew $7.7m from our Inland Port project.

This is a setback, but this is only temporary.

Narrabri has many great strengths, like being at the junction of two major rail lines and right on a major national highway.

We have abundant resources, energy, and a talented workforce.

These advantages make it important to keep working on the Port project.

Narrabri is a vital part of this region, growing in influence.

Our Gross Regional Product exceeds $4 billion, making us one of NSW’s top regional economies, double that of Moree and Gunnedah.

We should be proud and continue to support our growth.

Lastly, the recent rain has been a relief for local farmers.

It’s been welcomed by many I’ve spoken to. Hopefully, this rain will continue for a while longer.
