It’s beginning to look, feel and sound a lot like Christmas in Wee Waa, with the popular community carols evening kicking off the silly season last Sunday.
Local families, friends and visitors gathered in the glorious gardens of Whiddon (Weeronga) to sing-along to some favourite festive tunes.
Whiddon residents were also able to enjoy the beautiful singing and music, played by the Wee Waa community band.
Local organisers including the Wee Waa Anglican and Presbyterian Churches as well as the Lions Club were praised for lifting spirits and spreading Christmas cheer.
Lions Club members kept the crowd happy with their famous sausage sizzle along with servings of delicious cake and cream, thanks to Anthony Gray.
“There were a lot of families there and they enjoyed sitting around listening to the carols and the band,” said Lions Club president Rob Downey.
“The carols are always a good start to the festive season and it’s a great family atmosphere.”
The carols event is one of many gatherings on Wee Waa district’s social calendar this month and festive decorations are starting to come out in full force with the Lions Club’s much-loved
Christmas tree catching people’s attention in town as well as the impressive light displays ready for the chamber of commerce’s hotly-contested competition.
