The 75th Whiddon Board of Directors Awards were held at the Warwick Farm Racecourse, Sydney on Thursday, November 23, with three nominees from the North West region attending and Narrabri’s Robert Young wellbeing and lifestyle coordinator Kylie Guest taking home the Board of Directors award for Residential Aged Care – Far West.

Whiddon has been providing exceptional care to elderly Australians since 1923, embracing its three core objectives, to be progressive and innovative, to nurture relationships and community, and to create exceptional impact.

The nominees, who Whiddon calls Everyday Heroes, reflect those who have stood out amongst their peers and community as people who most certainly have created exceptional impact.

Whiddon leisure manager for far west Kelly Bruce said the prestigious awards are an honour and a true indication of dedication and commitment.

“The Board of Directors Awards honour the individuals and teams who truly live and breathe Whiddon’s values.

“Whiddon’s formal recognition program has two main parts that work together to ensure we are recognising our exceptional employees, at numerous times and in different ways throughout the year.

“Everyday Heroes is a nomination-based recognition campaign held locally three times a year, focusing on peer-to-peer nominations but also open to anyone who knows a Whiddon Everyday Hero.

“Celebrations are held at the end of each campaign with everyone nominated receiving a certificate.

“These nominations are later tallied, and winning recipients receive a nomination to the Board of Directors Awards held annually in Sydney.

“Here in the far west region, we have Whiddon homes at Narrabri Robert Young, Narrabri Jessie Hunt, Moree, Wee Waa Weeronga and Bourke.

“This year Whiddon far west region had three exceptional shining stars. Robert Young wellbeing and lifestyle coordinator Kylie Guest, Robert Young assistant in nursing Darcie McClenaghan and Wee Waa Weeronga registered nurse Mary Avery were the three recipients who won a nomination to the 2023 Board of Directors Awards in Sydney.

“Overall, across the state there were 18 nominees from the Whiddon family of around 2000 plus staff.

For her outstanding dedication and for always going above and beyond in her position, Kylie Guest was awarded the Board of Directors Award for Residential Aged Care – Far West.

Every day, simply by being herself, Kylie enriches the lives of those she cares for.

“Whiddon is dedicated to recognising the extraordinary team members who go above and beyond every day to improve the lives of individuals we care for and the communities we proudly serve.”
