The community is mourning the loss of Wee Waa’s Lyle Cathcart, who died on Friday, December 8.
The late Mr Cathcart was the loving husband of Helen and dad of children Richard, Jessica, Tarisha, Breanna and Shannia, Pop of Blake, Nicholas and Connor and Pappabear of Piper and Mathias.
He was loved, known and respected by many for his work and service in the community including with Apex, the cotton industry as well as the Wee Waa Anglican Church.
A dedicated dance instructor, Mr Cathcart was recognised at the 2023 Wee Waa Lions Club debutante ball.
He generously volunteered his time for 40 years, helping generations of young Wee Waarians develop confidence, rhythm, and poise on the dance floor.
“Since 1983, Lyle has been doing the dancing with the help of two Helens – his first wife Helen Rae who he sadly lost in 2006 and Helen ‘Also’ his second wife, continuing the legacy,” said
Lion Connie Smith in her speech at the debutante ball.
“Thank you – the Lions Club and Wee Waa community recognise his 40 years of service to our community.”
