Narrabri Stingrays Swimming Club was represented by five keen young swimmers at the 2023/24 season Tamworth City Swimming Club long course carnival at Tamworth Olympic Pool on Sunday.
Ruby and Harper Greentree and Connor, Ryan and Zara Warnock all travelled to compete, and they did so with great success.
The group combined for seven wins, four second-place finishes and seven third-place finishes. They all set at least one personal best time as well, with the five of them combining for an impressive total of 19 PBs.
Harper Greentree was in fantastic form on the day as she excelled in the four events she entered. The eight-year-old won her 50-metre breaststroke and butterfly races and placed third in 50-metre freestyle. She set new personal best times in all four of her events, including 10.51 seconds in the 50-metre butterfly.
Ruby Greentree also took part in four events and she raced her way to podium finishes in two of them. The 11-year-old won her 50-metre backstroke event and placed third in 50-metre breaststroke. She set three new PBs on the day as well, which included a brilliant 6.03-second new top time in the 100-metre breaststroke.
The youngest Stingrays swimmer in action on the day at the Tamworth City carnival was Connor Warnock. The six-year-old showed he is a star of the future as he won three of his four events and placed third in the other. Connor’s events were all 25-metre time trials. He won the freestyle, fly and backstroke events and placed third in breaststroke. He also earned three new PBs, which included an impressive 6.70-second new best time in the breaststroke.
Zara Warnock had a busy day and the nine-year-old Stingray was quite successful. She won her 50-metre backstroke event, placed second in her 50-metre freestyle and butterfly and 100-metre backstroke events, and placed third in her 100-metre freestyle, and 50-metre breaststroke events. She also achieved five new PBs, with her best being 7.18 seconds in 200-metre individual medley.
Ryan Warnock also competed in 10 events on the day, and the 11-year-old returned home having placed second in his 100-metre butterfly event and third in his 50-metre backstroke and butterfly events. He also achieved four new PBs at the long course carnival, one of which was a whopping 17.09 seconds in the 100-metre backstroke.
