Narrabri Shire Council has reached significant milestones in its efforts to enhance road infrastructure.
In an update issued at the end of last week, council said this demonstrated its commitment to improving the road network throughout the shire.
“One of the major achievements is the successful completion of the Leards Forest Road rehabilitation project,” the update read.
“The crucial upgrades completed by council’s roads team include road rehabilitation spanning approximately one kilometre, in-situ stabilisation, guideposts installation, and bitumen road seal.
“This ensures a smoother and safer travel experience.”
Council said Transport for NSW had played a pivotal role in this project through the Regional Roads Repair Fund.
Among the milestones was the Pilliga Road upgrade reaching the halfway point.
“Another noteworthy achievement is the $7.84 million Pilliga Road upgrade, now reaching its halfway point,” the update read.
“This is a major step forward in the transformation of this vital route.
“The ongoing progress of this project will enhance our region’s transportation infrastructure.
“Covering 20 kilometres, the upgrades have been made possible through generous funding contributions from both the federal government and the NSW government.”
Works on the Old Narrabri Road and Turrawan Road upgrade project are now in full swing.
This project involves the reconstruction and sealing of 1.3 kilometres of gravel road, pavement sealing, widening for heavy vehicle and dual passage, culverts and drain works.
“Getting underway in November last year, this ongoing project is anticipated to be completed within six months, enhancing road conditions and safety at this crucial intersection.
“The NSW government’s Resources for Regions program has played a vital role in funding this initiative.”
Council said its operational plan had now reached the halfway mark.
“The roads team have been progressing well, completing many road rehabilitation projects, the team has not only achieved this within the set timelines but has exceeded expectations in delivering quality infrastructure for the shire,” the update read.
“These achievements mark a significant step forward for Narrabri Shire, indicating the ongoing efforts of council to ensure the safety and usability of our road network for everyone.
“We will keep the community informed about ongoing and upcoming projects in the near future.”
