Narrabri RSL Sporting Body proudly announced two new life members in November last year as Jason Trindall and Rod Tomlinson were recognised for years of dedication.

Their life membership were officially announced on Saturday, November 25 at the Narrabri RSL Club in front of Sporting Body members, family and friends.

Trindall, who is the president of the Narrabri RSL Cricket Club, is now in his 41st season as a player for the club after joining in the 1983/84 campaign as a 13-year-old.

Starting out in second grade, he progressively showed his great talents and eventually made his first grade debut.

As the seasons went on, he went from strength to strength and gained selection into the Narrabri first XI rep side and eventually went on to lead that team as captain for three seasons, two of which they won Nowland Cups.

Trindall also represented Narrabri in the NRMA Challenge Cup, which consisted of NSW rep players.

He eventually took the reins of the RSL first grade side and captained them for seven years, winning two grand finals.

Then, as the years started to catch up with him, he then made his way back to second grade and captained them for five years.

He won three straight grand finals as captain before stepping down and allowing Justin Saunders to take on the role.

Not only has Trindall been a leader on the field but he has also showed great passion for the club off the field, holding the position of chairman, event coordinator/assistant and also representing RSL Cricket Club as a committee member on the Sporting Body committee for several years.

He continues to play a pivotal role within the RSL cricket ranks and he is a well respected and valued member.

Tomlinson is currently in his 30th season for Narrabri RSL Cricket Club.

He started out as a 13-year-old in the under-16s Sunday competition and gradually earned selection into the second grade side in 1989, playing for four years before moving away to Sydney to work.

On his return to Narrabri, Tomlinson made his comeback to the RSL Cricket Club and has won multiple one day premierships and T20 premierships.

He has also held several positions on the cricket committee doing a lot of the jobs in the background that people rarely see.

He has also represented the RSL Cricket Club as an RSL Sporting Body committee member for numerous years and still holds his position on that committee.

He works tirelessly to ensure the RSL Cricket Club is held to the highest of standards in the local community and has always been one of the most well-respected and valued members of both the cricket club and the RSL sporting body.

The two men were honoured to have been named life members of Narrabri RSL Sporting Body.
