For 16 days, CREATE Festival 2024 will celebrate creativity across Narrabri Shire, turning it into a living canvas.
Offering a unique experience for all, local creativity will be on display from the very beginning of the festival including its opening night.
The opening night will see artworks featured across three spaces, including the Walk with Us installation and Art After Brain Injury exhibition.
The Walk with Us installation takes you through the journey of the Gomeroi Nation.
A Lyniece Keogh Production, the installation is part of the main exhibition at The Crossing Theatre.
Art After Brain Injury provides a perspective of how differently artists see the world after a brain injury.
It features artists Cynthia Burke, Djen Burns, Jamie Daddo, Jillian Oliver, Scott Pollock and Mark Waller, all of whom have experienced many different types of brain injuries – from mild to severe. Each has a different perspective to life after their injury, resulting in a wide variety of outcomes.
Guests to CREATE’s opening will also have the chance to get their portrait done on the night, while being entertained by Goldheist on the baby grand.
Bringing her songs and stories of love, life and adventure, Goldheist, who has been likened to Kate Bush (among other prominent crooners), paints vibrant pictures of the Australian bush, current affairs and events (not to mention a few broken hearts).
Mayor Darrell Tiemens has encouraged the community to join the opening night festivities.
“CREATE’s opening night is certain to be a highlight and is a preview of what will be a magnificent festival overall, which includes the very popular street party, NarraBRIGHT,” Cr Tiemens said.
“If you’re thinking about heading to the opening night, please make sure you book your tickets now, to avoid missing out.
“And don’t forget to check what else is happening for CREATE Festival 2024 and book your spot where needed.”
