Marval Designs, the Tourist Hotel and Nutrien Ag joined forces on International Women’s Day, showcasing some serious local girl power by turning Narrabri into a fashion capital and fundraising for an absolutely fabulous cause.
A portion of the proceeds from the IWD event’s ticket sales will go towards a makeover for the Narrabri Rugby Club’s female facilities, thanks to sponsorship from Nutrien Ag Solutions Narrabri.
The fancy fashion parade was a fun and stylish affair held in the Tourist’s revamped beer garden: attendees dressed to impress and stunning local models wow-ed the crowd, sparking plenty of cheers as they beautifully and graciously strutted their stuff down the runway showing off a collection of gorgeous garments from Marval Designs.
The gathering of girls was also inspired by a stellar panel of guest speakers including artist Whitney Spicer, bespoke wedding dressmaker Melinda O’Donoghue, founder of GRO Events Group Dimity Smith, PHYLLi Designs founder and hat whisperer Laura Hall, and co-founder and editorial director of FOUND Regional magazine Steph Wanless.
The talented guest speakers engaged and entertained the crowd as they were interviewed by locals Katie Watson and Ali Smith about their secrets to success, career pivots, professional thrills and spills, celebrity encounters, trucker hat reviews, best life advice, and the power of collaboration.
A highlight for many was hearing about the guest speakers’ mentors and greatest influences, and the iconic Melinda O’Donoghue received a loud cheer when she declared ‘country women’, such as those in attendance, inspired her every day.
The dynamic duo behind the IWD extravaganza, Martina Boyle and Angie Jones, took to the stage at the end of the panel discussion for some fun and games with the panelists including a round of the ‘Never have I ever’ quiz, which produced plenty of laughs and giggles.
The fashionistas then kicked on sipping cocktails and mocktails as Dimity Smith delivered a clever and captivating commentary of the catwalk’s exquisite fashions. Mingling and music, by the sensational Gillian Goddard, capped off the fantastic local IWD celebration.
