Narrabri Pharmacy’s national honour

Maitland Street business Narrabri Pharmacy has been celebrated on the national stage after being honoured for professional innovation.

Local representatives attended the Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s conference and awards celebration in the Gold Coast last week.

Narrabri Pharmacy was announced as the winner of the Professional Innovation Award.

The Narrabri business was also in the top three for the coveted Guild Pharmacy of the Year award.

Pharmacist and proprietor Karen Carter described the honour as a humbling experience and praised the community’s continued support of the business.

“We are grateful that people come and see us at Narrabri Pharmacy,” she said.

Mrs Carter said the pharmacy’s range of services was the catalyst for receiving the honour.

The success at a national level is proof that innovation is not just confined to city and coastal areas, with rural businesses looking to embrace change and new technologies as well.

The use of robotic dispensing at the Narrabri business has enabled staff to continue to focus on the various services it provides to the community, as well as the broader region.

Mrs Carter, who has operated the Narrabri business for 15 years, said a nomination from a member of the community started this year’s awards journey. She expressed her gratitude to this unknown person.

Mrs Carter also thanked the staff who stayed back in Narrabri to keep the business running smoothly while team members attended the national conference.

“We are just so thankful that the Narrabri community has embraced us to be involved with their healthcare,” she said.

“We will have a morning tea so we can celebrate with our community.”
