The Rotary Club of Narrabri is enjoying a strong start to its pop-up Maitland Street book shop.

In its first week of operation, customers have been flocking to the shop to bag a bargain.

Book lovers young and old, locals and visitors, are flocking to the fundraising shop to look through the massive collection of books across a range of genres and authors.

Thousands of dollars have been raised in the first week of operation, with the book shop’s funds set to return to the community.

Book shop coordinators Bruce and Joan Pyke and Pat Norrie have welcomed the continued interest in the initiative.

Club president Karen Kirkby thanked the community for rallying behind the regular fundraiser.

“We are overwhelmed by the community’s continued support of our club, and our book sale,” Dr Kirkby said.

“The funds raised from the book sale support local organisations and projects.

“We are grateful to the volunteers who have contributed many hours in sorting the books, setting up the shop and ensuring it is open from Mondays to Saturdays.”
