Vice president Sandra Jamieson and secretary Noreen Boehm represented the members of the Boggabri Branch of the NSW United Hospital Auxiliaries in delivering a beautiful hand knitted coat hanger, a bookmark, a tube of hand cream and a card made especially for each resident to the nine residents and the acute care patient of Boggabri John Prior Multi-Purpose Service to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Not only was Sunday Mother’s Day it was also International Nurses Day.
International Nurses Day has been celebrated by the International Council of Nurses since 1965, however, in January 1974 they proclaimed that May 12 would be ‘International Nurses Day.’
May 12, 1820, was the birthday of Florence Nightingale the foundational philosophy of modern nursing.
The members of the Boggabri United Hospital Auxiliary presented the 27 nurses at Boggabri with a pair of socks that stated, ‘Nurses save Lives’, a tube of hand cream and some chocolates for the male nurses.
Boggabri is privileged to have nurses who are crucial in all parts of health care.
Thanks to their knowledge, compassion, understanding and kindness they keep the Boggabri community healthy.
