Narrabri Netball Association’s 2024 campaign resumed on Saturday after two weekends off following a washout and the June long weekend break, and it was an action-packed day as all teams played multiple games and the association also held a crazy sock and hair day fundraiser.

Senior competition teams all played two games as they contested their round six fixtures as well as the round five matches that were washed out and postponed on Saturday, June 1.

The round five A-grade fixtures saw undefeated duo Tourist Tornadoes and Flames both get the job done as the Tornadoes downed All Nets 29-12 while Flames beat Pharmacy Ferns 17-9.

The other two round five games saw The Goats outscore Grubs 18-14 and Mii Mii Memorial defeat Namoi Mirrii 22-8.

The undefeated duo then met later that afternoon in round six and it was Flames who prevailed as they got up 22-19 against the Tornadoes to hand them their first loss of the year.

The other round six games saw All Nets and The Goats finish all square at 13-all, Mii Mii Memorial beat Grubs 22-12, and Pharmacy Ferns outscore Namoi Mirrii 23-6.

Saturday’s results saw Flames finish round six on top of the A-grade ladder with 12 points following six wins from as many matches so far in 2024.

Tourist Tornadoes are second with 10 points, The Goats are third with nine points, and Mii Mii Memorial are fourth with six points after being one of just two teams to win both of their games on Saturday.

The bottom four teams now include Grubs (4), Pharmacy Ferns (4), All Nets (3) and Mii Mii Memorial (0).

The A-grade sides will play their seventh and final round this Saturday before the teams are split into A-grade and A-reserve competitions that will both be made up of four teams for the rest of the season.

In B-grade, Agies Rural Renegades won both of their games on Saturday to remain on top of the table with a maximum 12 points following six victories in as many games this year.

They challenged Namoi Songbirds in round five and won 21-14 before they beat second-placed side Golden Gurls 20-11 in round six.

That loss was Golden Gurls’ second of the day after they went down 12-11 against Hot Shots in round five before Hot Shots lost by the same scoreline in round six as they were beaten 12-11 by Namoi Songbirds.

Those results saw the Golden Gurls finish the day in second place with six points followed by third-placed Hot Shots (4) and fourth-placed Namoi Songbirds (2).

The junior division teams contested their first super round of the season where three rounds are contested on the one day. Saturday’s matches were round six, seven and eight fixtures.
