Narrabri Rugby Club’s first grade men started the 60th anniversary weekend with a bang – sending the Moree Bulls home with its first defeat of the season in a 38-31 triumph.

The Blue Boars also scored strongly in the women’s 10s and third grade competitions, while the Bulls succeeded in second grade.

Saturday’s Dangar Park clash had the makings of a blockbuster battle and the Blue Boars didn’t disappoint in front of diehard supporters – local and returning – who were home to celebrate 60 years of success.

In reserve grade, Moree prevailed 63-24.

The Pickled Porkers made a long-awaited return to the field and put the Bulls to the sword in a dominant display, 24-5.

The Blue Boars Women’s 10s have cemented their spot at the top of the CNRU ladder.

The women held the Bulls at bay, barely allowing a scoring opportunity.

The Blue Boars triumphed 27-10.

Saturday’s first grade victory sees the Blue Boars in second place on the ladder on 44 points, with Moree in first spot on 48 points.

Narrabri’s reserve grade is fourth on 36 points, with Tamworth third on 44 points, Quirindi second on 45 points and Moree Bulls first on 51 points.

The Blue Boars women are well ahead of the pack on their 48 points, with Gunnedah second on 40 points and Tamworth third on 35 points.

The Blue Boars are back home at Dangar Park this weekend and will take on Gunnedah.

Saturday’s spectacular day on the field set the tone for a jubilant weekend of Blue Boars celebrations, with a long lunch held on Sunday.
