September’s Narrabri Shire Council election will see 38 candidates vie to fill nine councillor positions.
The final order of the ballot paper was drawn at the returning office, located at The Crossing Theatre, last week.
Of the prospective elected members, eight people have nominated individually while six groups of five people are also contesting the local government election.
The lead candidate of each group, in drawn ballot order, are Joshua Roberts-Garnsey (Group A), Darrell Tiemens (Group B), Greg Lamont (Group C), Ethan Towns (Group D), Ian Passmore (Group E) and Brett Nolan (Group F).
The individual candidates listed in drawn ballot order are: Glen Stoltenberg, Brett Dickinson, Peter Guest, Matt Bullock, Ken Flower, Cathy Redding, Navin Erathnage and Colin Armstrong.
In the Roberts-Garnsey group (Group A), the candidates are Joshua Roberts-Garnsey, Emma Alexanderson, Rohan Boehm, Ian Duffey and Robert Browning.
Group B, the Tiemens group, consists of Darrell Tiemens, Amanda Brown, Mark Strahle, Peter Harvey and Karen Kirkby.
Group C, the Lamont group, consists of Greg Lamont, James (Jock) Duncan, Jenny Wilson, Marilyn Binge and John Carrigan.
Group D, the Towns groups, consists of Ethan Towns, Andrew Dewson, Roxanne Whitton, Ryan Whillas and Bernadette Melton.
Group E, the Passmore group, consists of Ian Passmore, Lloyd Bennett, Damien Oudenryn, Mark Crutcher and Kent Ferguson.
Group F, the Nolan group, consists of Brett Nolan, Jocellin Jansson, Matthew Nott, Kodey Stanford and Kat Denniss.
Of the combined total of 38 candidates, 23 have listed their locality as Narrabri, nine as Wee Waa, two as Bohena Creek and one each from Boggabri, Jacks Creek, Maules Creek and Gwabegar.
Voting is compulsory at NSW local government elections.
Pre-poll voting will open on September 7 and run to September 13 while polling on election day will run from 8am to 6pm on Saturday, September 14. Postal vote applications close on September 9.
As in previous local government elections, The Courier offers a ‘level playing field’ for candidates to outline their platforms.
