The 1st Narrabri West Scouts Group held an open day to celebrate 86 years of scouting on Sunday, August 18.
The day was well attended by the local community who enjoyed numerous activities that were available to take part in throughout the day.
The event heralded a proud moment when three cubs, Coen Harris, Annabella Dufty and Lilian Davies, were awarded their Cub Scout Peak Award.
The Cub Scout Peak Award, also known as the Grey Wolf Award, is the highest award cubs can earn in the Cub Scout Section.
It is considered the pinnacle of Scouting at this stage and a significant milestone in Scouting life.
The Grey Wolf Award brings together the core elements of the ‘Achievement Pathways’ as well as a personal development course, an adventurous journey and personal reflection.
The awards were presented to the Cubs by special guests Mr Bill Chiplin and Mr Rowe Panton, both scouts in their youth.
On January 6, 2025, 1st Narrabri West will have six Scouts and a Rover Scout attending the 2025 Jamboree to be held in Mayborough, Queensland.
This was made possible by fundraising by the group and support from local businesses within the community.
