Member for Barwon Roy Butler said he will ‘run again in 2027’.
In his weekly newsletter, Mr Butler said: “When I was first elected, I really only intended to stay in office for two terms, given the magnitude of the job and the size of the electorate.
“Those of you who have followed my travels on Facebook will know that I spend most of my time out on the road, when I’m not in parliament.
“It can be quite a taxing job; I often say that it is like dog years – one term in Barwon is worth at least three in most other electorates.
“But as we all know, circumstances can change.
“In my first term as the Member for Barwon I had a few big achievements, not least was the record for funding coming into the electorate, but my team and I were working on things that needed a second term to bring to fruition.
“Now it has become apparent that some things we have been working on need a third term to see them through.
“It is entirely up to the voters if they would like to see me back for another term, I never tell people how they should vote, but if they do decide to elect me for a third, we can continue to work together on the things that are important to making Barwon an even better place to live.”
