Wee Waa High School received an overwhelmingly positive response to its recent information session held for 2025 Year 7 students and their families.

Attendees were warmly welcomed through the gates of the new state-of-the-art campus and guided on tours by WWHS leadership team members.

“The school caters for all needs – it’s fresh and spectacular,” said parent Adrienne Burnside after her tour.

“It’s amazing; I’m most excited about the kitchen and cooking,” said 2025 Year 7 student Jed Stanford.

“Our fantastic resources are second to none,” said Year 7 adviser Mr James Vella.

“I’m excited to help the students gel as a year group and get them working together.”

Visitors at the 2025 Year 7 information session were given a sneak peek of WWHS life, with the students and staff sharing their favourite areas and aspects of the new school – the multipurpose hall, the sunlit library bursting with new books, learning spaces with the latest technology, the popular food and textile classroom, canteen menu, science lab, darkroom for photography, commercial kitchen, Indigenous Cultural Centre, and more.

A highlight for some suture students was the music room, where they could ask teacher James Vella about the instruments – the drum kit was very popular.

The information session gave attendees the chance to hear directly from principal Jacki Neil, deputy principal Marjory Drummond, Year 7 adviser James Vella and P and C member Kerry Crutcher.

Ms Neil took the opportunity to praise the P and C for its commitment to the WWHS community and with assistance from Tracey Mortimer, Ms Neil also gave a rundown on the school’s uniform.

Attendees were also able to ask questions and hear about WWHS’ exciting plans for next year, from school camp to sports teams and the educational and life opportunities that WWHS aims to provide to cater for each student’s needs and passions.

Support available for parents, families, and carers was also discussed.

Mr Vella added that one of the most rewarding aspects of his job was seeing the students grow and ‘through to fruition’ as he has worked with both Year 7 and Year 12 classes over the years, supporting their progression and succession through high school.
