The Dangar Park Tennis Centre was rocking on Sunday as Narrabri and District Tennis Association hosted its annual Junior Club Championships.

There were just under 50 players who took to the court in pursuit of being crowned 2024 club champions, and many of those were making their tournament debuts.

There was an enjoyable atmosphere around the centre as parents, friends and other family members cheered the players on.

Narrabri Tennis head coach and the NDTA Junior Club Championships tournament director Shane Murphy told The Courier that it was great to see so many players putting their best foot forward.

“We had 45 playing, and we had about 30 last year, so it’s a really good improvement,” Murphy said.

“We had all the age groups playing from under-8s through to the 18s and we had 11 courts going.

“It’s good to see so many kids on court, and the best thing about it is that for a lot of the kids that played here today, it was their first ever tournament, and that’s the main push out of this. It’s the perfect event to play in your first tournament.

“Overall, it was an awesome day. “The tennis was quality and there were no dramas.”
