Narrabri Garden Club was thrilled to host a return visit by Robyn Bible, a collector and grower of Geraniums and Pelargoniums from Sydney, and a member of the Australian Geranium Society.

Robyn visited us last year, and this very well attended meeting was a testament to her popularity.

It was great to welcome so many visitors to the meeting.

Robyn has 50 years’ experience in the industry and her passion is as strong as ever for this often underestimated very large species of plants.

Her knowledge is amazing and she imparted many simple tips to have our geraniums thriving, one of which is very important in our climate … mulch, mulch, mulch!

She showed us many photos of how she uses these plants in the landscaping of her own garden.

Geranium hedges … wow!

There was an impressive display of spring blooms this month for our competition.

Lyn Tuckey was the winner with a beautiful Clivia, followed by Joan Burrell with a geranium and Judy Haire with a rose. Well done ladies.

Yvonne Wall was the winner of a potted geranium.

We are busy preparing for the annual Show Society Spring Rose and Flower Show which will be held on October 12 at the Bowling Club.

Wendy McNair gave us a rundown on the section included, and encouraged everyone to enter.

Entries will be received from 2pm to 7pm on Friday, October 11, and from 9.30am to 10am on Saturday 12.

If you haven’t picked up a schedule yet, contact Sue on 0459 629 190.

The display of roses and other cut flowers is always a feast for the senses, and the decorative arrangements are evidence of the creative talents of our members.

The show will be open to the public from 11am to 5pm.

We have been fortunate to book a visit by a garden product specialist in November.

They produce many well-known garden products, and we look forward to hearing from him.

Our next meeting will be our Annual General Meeting, which will be held at the Scout Hall, Wukawa Street on Wednesday, October 9, commencing at 10am with morning tea (see classified advertisement this issue).

Don’t forget to bring your blooms for our competition.
