Wee Waa and surrounding farming communities were lit up like a Christmas tree on Wednesday night, ready for the judging of the hotly contested and highly anticipated 2024 lights competition.
“They were all so fabulous, people went all out,” said Roxanne Whitton who was one of the competition’s organisers along with Lisa Pfeffer.
“You could probably see the district glowing from space.
“They loveliest thing is they put up all the Christmas lights for other people’s enjoyment.”
From bush Christmas displays by country kids to real-life Santas greeting the judges – it was a spectacular, fun, and magical experience.
There were flashing reindeers dashing through the sky, dancing elves and a Bluey mailbox draped in tinsel.
Local children didn’t disappoint, embracing the festive spirit by dressing up and showing off their clever Christmas creations.
The Wohling’s big and bright shining star was mesmerising, not to mention Santa’s festive spray plane powered by liquid tinsel, then there was a sparkling truck sleigh that had a close call with a (blow-up) kangaroo, a Christmas movie screen in the Hobden’s front yard was a great place to stop, a glittering fishing boat and a snow machine that created a winter wonderland at Kilkenny Court transporting visitors to the North Pole for the night – just to name a few highlights, there really was something for everyone.

“Merry Christmas and don’t forget to have a drive around to see all the beautiful lights,” added Roxanne.
