David Dewar and Tony Redman will meet in a decider for the second time in six weeks this Saturday after they won their way through to Narrabri Bowling Club’s consistency singles final.
The local bowlers lined up opposite one another on Saturday, December 6 in the major singles final, and Dewar was crowned the 2024/25 season club champion after securing a 25-18 win.
Redman trailed 15-1 early in that contest and gained momentum in the back half of the match, which he will be looking to draw on this Saturday as they face off in the consistency singles decider from 9.30am. Graham Rose will be the marker of that match.
Redman and Dewar both contested their semi-final matches last Saturday and scored comfortable wins. Dewar beat Col Armstrong 150-91 in 25 ends while Redman downed Scott Dewar 150-127 in 28 ends.
Redman went behind on the first end of his semi-final as Scott Dewar scored an early 10. Dewar then led for five ends before a 10 to Redman on the sixth end saw him go ahead 31-29.
The two bowlers split five of the next eight ends before Redman scored a 6-4 on the 15th make the score 77-73 in his favour.
Dewar equalised at 80-all on the 16th with a 7-3 and finally regained the lead on the 19th when he scored a 9-1 that made it 97-93.
Back-to-back 6-4s and a split end on the 22nd then saw Dewar establish his largest lead since the first end as he went ahead 114-106. However, Redman powered home to claim all of the next six ends a combined 47 to 13 to earn a 153-127 victory after 28 ends of play.
Armstrong went ahead 7-3 on the first end in the other semi-final clash before David Dewar took the lead in the third following a 6-4 and a 7-3. He never trailed from that point on as a split fourth end and a 10 on the fifth saw him go ahead 31-19 before he controlled the remainder of the contest.
Armstrong did find some form as he won three of the four ends from the 14th to the 18th to claw himself back into the contest at 103-74 after he trailed by 45 points at one stage. However, Dewar won six of the next seven ends to wrap up the game after the 25th as he claimed a 154-91 win.
