Janice Foxe is the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2024/25 season under-5-years competition champion after outscoring Rebecca Taylor 25 shots to 19 in last Thursday night’s final.
The victory in that competition was the fourth-year bowler’s first after she went down in the decider to Glennis Godden in 2023 and Carol Demamiel in 2022.
The competition was not held in the 2024 calendar year.
Foxe and Taylor both went straight through to the decider as they were the only bowlers eligible to compete in the competition this season.
Taylor received a one-shot head start in the decider and she scored a shot on the first end to establish an early 2-0 lead.
Foxe then scored three shots on the second end before Taylor equalised, and it was still close after seven ends as Taylor led 6-5.
However, Foxe then scored 11 shots to nothing across the next four ends to go ahead 15-6.
Taylor managed to get herself back in the game as she claimed the next four ends to make it 15-13, and it was 19-18 in Foxe’s favour after the 21st end.
But Foxe then claimed three of the next four ends to win the match 25 shots to 19 after 25 ends of play.
