The much-loved Narrabri Races return this Saturday, March 22, at the Narrabri Racecourse, marking a historic 150 years of racing.
This year’s event is poised to be bigger and better than ever, with an exciting program designed to entertain racegoers of all ages.
This will be the second race meet delivered by the new committee, which formed in late 2023.
The dedicated committee, members, and a team of enthusiastic volunteers have been working tirelessly to prepare the racecourse and track for this significant milestone event.
Narrabri Jockey Club president Will Childs is excited to be delivering his second race meet alongside the club’s dedicated members and community volunteers.
“Saturday is shaping up to be a great day at the Narrabri Racecourse,” Mr Childs said.
“We have been busy prepping the track and racecourse surrounds for the past few months and encourage the community to come out and enjoy what will be a fun day at the races.
“We can’t thank the businesses and individuals who have helped contribute to getting us ready for Saturday.
“It is a community effort to host events like this and the community has showed up – from lending us equipment to prepare the racecourse and surrounds or providing us with equipment needed on the day to giving their time to help out at working bees.
“Everyone has gone above and beyond to ensure we continue to deliver a successful annual race meet.”
The day will feature a six-race program, highlighted by the flagship race – the Qube Agri Narrabri Cup. For the second consecutive year, the club has arranged a big screen to stream all the live racing action from Narrabri and across the country, a feature that was a huge success in 2024.
Racegoers can enjoy a licensed bar, on-site bookmakers, and a variety of lunch and snack options. Families are also well catered for, with a kids’ jumping castle ensuring fun for the little ones.
As one of the largest and most inclusive community events, the Narrabri Races attract thousands of locals, regional visitors, and interstate guests, reinforcing its status as a cherished tradition rich in history.
In celebration of this momentous 150-year anniversary, the committee has introduced an exclusive ticketed marquee for the first time, located right near the finishing post, ensuring premium access to all the action.
Adding to the excitement, racegoers will be entertained by live music from Wait for Green and can participate in the Inglis Rural Property Fashions on the Field, which boasts an impressive six categories catering to all styles including a best dressed little lady and best dressed little gentleman category for the kids.
The committee invites the community to come and celebrate this milestone. Gates open at 11am with the first race scheduled for 1pm.
