March 26 marked 41 years since the first $100 note was put into circulation. The first series of $100 notes featured Antarctic explorer Sir Douglas Mawson and astronomer and meteorologist John Tebbutt. Once polymer notes were introduced, the design was updated and featured operatic soprano Dame Nellie Melba and military commander of the First World War John Monash. It was redesigned again in 2020, still featuring the same identities.
