Easter is hot cross bun time and Watson’s Kitchen is well into production.

There is huge demand for the delicious traditional buns, freshly prepared and baked locally.

The hot cross bun recipe hasn’t changed in almost 30 years and the local bakery typically will make 3000 buns in Easter week. The buns will emerge perfectly cooked and ready for the shelves to be snapped up by keen customers.

While seen by many as an Easter treat, hot cross buns are religiously symbolic with the cross representing the crucifix on which Jesus died. The spices in hot cross buns are said to represent the spices used to embalm Christ after his death.

Narrabri is fortunate to have a local bakery producing not only hot cross buns but the whole range of freshly baked produce.
