The Boggabri Drovers’ Campfire has become a much-anticipated event for caravanners, motorhome owners, travellers and day visitors from all over Australia.

Idemitsu Boggabri Coal has ensured that the event remains a highlight on the Boggabri calendar with a massive $20,000 sponsorship. Very valuable sponsorship has also come from Whitehaven Coal and the Narrabri Shire Council.

From humble beginnings in 2006 the 2025 Drovers’ Campfire is shaping up to be another award-winning event with many of the crowd favourite entertainment options returning as well as some new and exciting options. New additions this year include an arts and craft display, yabby races, and new tours.

With 150 caravans already booked in there is sure to be some yarns spun around the campfire, not to mention the live entertainment, educational tours and mouthwatering food.

The Boggabri Lions Club and local volunteers have prepared a program to keep you entertained during the weekend.

This year ‘Drovers’ will start on Friday, April 25. This being Anzac Day visitors are welcome to attend the Baan Baa Dawn Service at 5.30am and or the Boggabri March and Memorial Service at 8.30am.

Rex Baldwin, followed by Caitlin Matthews will kick off the live entertainment Friday afternoon. Then, it may be a hard decision with a tour of the historic Kurrumbede Homestead or yabby races with Rick prior to the official opening at 5pm.

The evening will conclude with Boggabri’s own Sam Snape entertaining for the evening from 6pm.

The stage is set for Drovers Campfire to make a great return.

Saturday morning is busy with a fishing trip with the Boggabri Fishing Club, market stalls, cooking damper with Ethan, a tour of the Longhorn cattle farm all starting before 9.30am.

After 9.30 there is live music from the Gunnedah Conservatorium, gentle exercise, Boggabri Coal mine tour, and paws-up dog jump hosted by the Backtrack team.

Fancy yourself as a whip cracker, want to win a few dollars? Now is the time to enter the Whitehaven whip cracking competition which will have a $600 in prize money.

Those people who would like to have a more relaxed morning can sit back and listen to the Gunnedah Uke-Alypts followed by music by Stuart and Dave.

During the afternoon the antique farm machinery parade will take place along with a tour to a Cotton farm.

Each year one of the highlights and much anticipated events is the billy boiling competition. All going well, all the billies will be boiled ready for dinner at 6 and evening entertainment with the James Bros.

Sunday morning you have the choice of a church service, fish farm and Sawn Rocks tour, wood turning demonstration and a cotton farm tour.

If exercise is more to your taste there will be gentle exercise with Charlee and line dancing with Travis.

A relaxing afternoon is scheduled with walk-ups, showcasing poetry and singing abilities then the action changes and gets competitive with bingo and the final event, trivia which is not only brain taxing but a load of fun and laughter.

“It’s amazing that an event of this size is run solely by volunteers,” Ellen McClung, member of the organising committee said, “It’s great to be able to share where we live in this way, and that is only possible with the support of so many local volunteers and sponsors.
