The clippers were out for a very good cause on April 10, raising awareness for the World’s Greatest Shave at the Wilga Hotel.
Narrabri locals Beck Taylor and Michael Octigan took to the chair to have their heads shaved with the support of family and friends.
Operating the clippers was local hairdresser Courtney Ryan.
It’s a cause that hits home for Beck, who has a form of non Hodgkin lymphoma and thyroid cancer earlier in 2011, and a father who has suffered from leukemia.
For Beck, the disease is treatable, however, is not curable.
Pain is frequent and she also suffers fatigue. And while she continues to face struggles, she lives by this motto: “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have”.
“I still live life to the fullest,” she said.
“To raise over $2000 is fantastic.”
Beck and Michael have raised the funds online as well as through collecting donations in town.
Beck praised the community for its support as well as the business who donated towards a fundraising raffle.
On the shave day, they also had a surprise donor come up and also have their head shave for the great cause.
“Thank you to the community and to Michael for a fantastic effort,” Beck said.
