St Francis Xavier’s School recently congratulated a staff member who has shown strong dedication, care and passion in teaching.
Kym Capp has been teaching in the Armidale Diocese for an admirable 25 years.
To show commemoration for Kym’s efforts, the Catholic Schools Office have presented her with a certificate of appreciation for 25 years of service.
The Courier asked Kym to take us back in time to the beginning of her teaching journey.
“I had five and a half years teaching in Queensland before coming to NSW to marry my husband,” Kym said.
“I taught at Sacred Heart at Boggabri for my first two years before coming to St Francis Xavier’s.
“It has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Twenty-five years in the classroom has meant a continuous cycle of learning, adapting, and refining my skills.
“The relationships I’ve forged with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider school community over the years have created an integral part of my life.
“These connections, built on mutual respect and shared purpose, have provided immense support, joy, and a sense of belonging.
“Many former students and colleagues remain a part of my life, and those enduring connections are a true treasure.
“Teaching, as rewarding as it is, inevitably comes with its challenges.
“Over 25 years, navigating difficult situations, setbacks, and the ever-evolving landscape of education has fostered resilience and a broader perspective.
“These experiences have not only made me a better teacher but also a more empathetic and understanding person.
“In essence, 25 years of teaching has been a journey of continuous growth, profound connections, and the deep satisfaction of knowing that I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the lives of many young people,” Kym said.
