Many in the Narrabri and wider North West NSW community were saddened to learn of the passing, after a short illness, of former Narrabri resident Rob Southwell in Tamworth on Friday night May 9.

Mr Southwell was held in great respect as a leader over many years in commercial and residential real estate and agricultural irrigation and dry land property sales across the eastern seaboard.

The late Mr Southwell was closely involved in local community activities, primarily through his services to the St Francis Xavier’s community and to the Blue Boars’ rugby union club.

He continued his successful business career in Tamworth, moving there from Narrabri in 2023.

While Mr Southwell was recognised for his advocacy and support of the Australian rural industries he was first and foremost a proud family man, and held in great affection by many friends and business colleagues across the spectrum of the North Western community.

Mr Southwell is survived by his wife Helen and children John, Stuart and Emily and their families, and pre-deceased by daughter Felicity in 2006.

A requiem mass will be held to celebrate Rob’s life at 10am on Monday, May 19, at St Nicholas’ Catholic Church, Tamworth. A live stream will be available through Shaun Hamilton Funerals.
