Member-elect for Parkes Jamie Chaffey will feature in the opposition ministry as Shadow Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Resources, Nationals leader David Littleproud announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Littleproud announced the Nationals members who would feature in the Coalition’s shadow ministry alongside Liberal Party leader Sussan Ley in Canberra.
Earlier in the day, the two parties had announced an agreement was reached regarding a Coalition partnership.
Mr Littleproud described Mr Chaffey as a self-made man who had knocked on more than 25,000 doors in the Parkes electorate.
“This is a man of great conviction, of great work ethic, and a man who has led his community as mayor in Gunnedah but also as the Country Mayors Association of NSW president,” Mr Littleproud told members of the press assembled in the nation’s capital.
“He should be given an opportunity to shine.”
