On Friday, May 23, the Narrabri Eisteddfod committee was forced to make the heart- breaking decision to cancel the 2025 Eisteddfod program in its entirety.

This came after many attempts to find other options, such as alternative dates and venues, when The Crossing Theatre we had booked was suddenly and unprecedentedly unavailable two days before we were due to start our music program.

In making this tough call to cancel, we were aware that we were disappointing many people – competitors of all ages, students, teachers and parents alike, who had devoted so much time to preparation and rehearsal.

We were also disappointed that so many months of planning and preparation and expenditure by the committee was also not going to be utilised.

But Narrabri is a resilient and generous community. We are so very grateful to our amazing sponsors who have stood by us and allowed their generous sponsorship of this year’s event to be held over until 2026.

We are also amazed and thankful for the generous support our local businesses have given us in wonderful raffle prizes for our mega raffle, which assists in fund-raising for each upcoming year’s event. The names of our lucky prize winners will be printed in our Courier newspaper.

To those people who have empathised with us in the difficult choices we had to make, thank you so much for your understanding and encouragement.

To others, we ask that you will respect that this has been a difficult and painful time for us. The committee acted in good faith, making every attempt to hold an eisteddfod. Unfortunately circumstances were against us this year.

The eisteddfod will be back again in 2026 in full strength, and we are asking the Narrabri community to please get behind us to enable this to happen.
