Australia is living up to its reputation as a country of droughts and flooding rains, as described by well-known poet Dorothea Mackellar. In the first five months of 2025, Taree recorded 1294mm. Meanwhile in drought-stricken South Australia, Port Augusta in the state’s north (one of the worst-impacted regions) recorded 3.6mm in the same period.
