Narrabri Bowling Club took advantage of the June long weekend break by hosting a mixed pairs tournament on Saturday.
There were 28 players in action across 14 teams, all of which played three games of 15 ends each during what organisers told The Courier was an enjoyable event.
The winners of the tournament were Narrabri’s Debbie Gleeson and Ian Macmillan, who won all three of their games. They claimed 27 ends in total and finished with a margin of 22 shots.
Fellow Narrabri bowlers Lyn Tuckey and Graham Rose also won all three of their games and accumulated 27 ends, but they were forced to settle for second place after finishing with a margin of 13 shots.
Third place went to the Wee Waa Bowling Club duo of Kay Dewson and Kyne Allen, who won their three games and totalled 26 ends.
Meanwhile, social bowls was played at the Narrabri Bowling Club last Thursday.
Janet Coleman, Doug Mackereth and Tony Redman defeated Heather Caton, Rhonda Fitzgerald and Stuart Coleman 34-5; Dawn Armstrong, Bruce Tomlinson and Cindy Neil beat Trish Allison, Marie Redman and Di Chessells 22-6; Colin Armstrong, Debbie Gleeson and Kay Carolan outscored Colin Armstrong, Glennis Godden and Eva Sadler 19-13; and Gloria Campey, Helen Woodward and Cecile downed Carol Tomlinson, Ronnie Dewar and Lyn Tuckey 14-13.
The semi-finals of the mixed pairs knockout competition will be played at Narrabri Bowling Club this Saturday, June 14, from 9.30am. Fixtures are as follows:
Cindy Neil and Terry Wilson v Helen Woodward and Stuart Coleman; Marie and Tony Redman v Larry Scott and Eva Sadler.
