Rowena lived up to the expectation that it’s the best place to be on the June long weekend.
As the village put on an action-packed schedule of entertainment from the Show and Shine Market Day to the highly anticipated Rowena Cracker Night, which went off with a bang welcoming 1800 through the gates this year.
“The committee was delighted to see the event be so well attended and such a great community event again this year,” said the dedicated Rowena Public School committee about its annual fundraiser.
Every year Rowena’s magnificent cracker night attracts an impressive crowd to the North West as the small but mighty village of volunteers rally together to put on one of the most popular events on the district’s social calendar.
Set under a dazzling sky of stars, the event is a fantastic social catch-up for locals and also visitors, who travel from far and wide, to enjoy the country hospitality and colourful fireworks display.
“The fireworks are always amazing but the wide-open skies always seem make them even more spectacular.
“Every year the boys from Fireworks Factory don’t disappoint – even with challenging weather conditions,” said the P and C committee.
“Coming in a close second is the steak sandwiches and the famous supper table.
“So well attended again by our wonderful local community but had reports of people attending from as far away as Bundaberg.
“Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers and super generous sponsors.
“Such a cliché but literally would not happen without them.”
Sunday’s family-friendly fundraiser will help enhance the educational resources and opportunities for the students of Rowena.
