Narrabri Shire Council’s Maitland Street administration building has been temporarily closed as a result of a small kitchen fire.
Emergency services responded to the incident last Friday, with the office closed for the remainder of the day as well as on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
“Following the quick thinking and effective response of staff, the fire was contained and all staff safely evacuated from the building,” an update from council read. “While the fire was small and swiftly contained, the smell of smoke and fumes continue to affect parts of the building.”
As a precaution, the administration building remained closed on Wednesday. While the building has been closed as a result of the fire, people have still been able to get in touch with the customer service team.
Updates about the building’s reopening will be shared on the Narrabri Shire Facebook page.
