A POLICE operation conducted in Narrabri Shire has resulted in multiple arrests.
Local police were supported by officers from Oxley Police District, the Western Region Operation Support Group and the Police Dog Unit.
The Western Region Rescue Unit, through its remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) capabilities, were also part of the operation.
Two teenage boys and three men were charged with alleged property-related, personal violence and breach of bail offences following a deployment of police as part of Operation Soteria.
As part of a three-day operation targeting break, enter and enter steal offences in the townships of Narrabri and Wee Waa, officers conducted inquiries in relation to an aggravated break, enter and steal offence which occurred on Sunday 26 July at a motel in Barwan Street, Narrabri.
About 9.50am on Wednesday 5 August, police arrested a 16-year-old boy in Deran Street, Narrabri.
He was taken to Narrabri Police Station where he was charged with four offences: aggravated break and enter with intent in company; aggravated break and enter – commit serious indictable offence – people there; steal motor vehicle; and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.
He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Wednesday 5 August.
Bail was formally refused and the boy will appear before Narrabri children’s court on 22 September. Another 16-year-old boy was arrested for breaching bail conditions after police previously allegedly found him in custody of knives.
He was arrested at 9.15pm on 5 August.
The boy appeared in court the following day and was granted conditional bail.
Police also made inquiries in relation to a 30-year-old man wanted by way of warrant after failing to appear at court in relation to his alleged involvement in a brawl at Blanche Peadon Drive at Narrabri on 18 December 2025.
Following inquiries, about 1.20pm on Wednesday 5 August, police attended a house on Maitland Street, Wee Waa and arrested the 30-year-old man.
He was taken to Narrabri Police Station where the warrant was executed.
The man appeared before Bail Division – Court 5 on Thursday 6 August.
A man was arrested in Wee Waa at 3.29pm on 4 August for breaching bail.
Police allege the man attempted to evade officers.
He was located on the roof of a shed, near Cowper Street, by the Police Dog Unit.
Police bail was refused and he was granted conditional bail in court the following day.
As part of the operation, police also arrested a 45-year-old man for an outstanding warrant at a Narrabri motel at 1.30pm on 4 August.
Narrabri sector officer-in-charge, Chief Inspector Robert Dunn, said the arrests were made as a result of good work conducted by local, district and operational support officers.
“We will continue to run the operation as long as it’s required,” Chief Insp Dunn said.
“Police from the Narrabri sector, supported by police external from the sector, have been relentless in their investigations and responses.”
A number of pushbikes have been seized as a result of recent incidents and are located at the Narrabri Police Station.
Police also have a motorbike in their possession.
Chief Insp Dunn urged anyone who was missing property, and hadn’t reported it to police, to contact the Police Assistance Line or the local station to identify the items.
