David Cain, Shane Rily claim top honours at Stableford medleys

It has been busy on the Narrabri Golfie fairways, with golfers turning out for Stableford, stroke and monthly medal competitions earlier this month.

The action got underway on 2 September, with the nine-hole Stableford medley, where David Cain claimed the honours with 18 points after a countback.

The ladies were also in action over 18 holes in a stroke competition, with Myra Joseph taking the gross title with a score of 98. Lyn Shearer finished runner-up on 99, while Gina Bange picked up the nearest-the-pin prize on the fifth hole.

The club’s monthly medal singles stroke competition was played on 5 September, with players competing across three men’s grades as well as the ladies’ competition.

Josh Orman produced the best gross score in A-grade, finishing with an impressive 75, while Jye Manton took the A-grade nett title with 71. Shane Hartog-Smith was runner-up with 73.

Wayne Saunders led the way in B-grade with a gross score of 82, while Ryan Meppem secured the nett victory with an excellent 69. Dylan Gordon finished runner-up on 72.

In C-grade, Tim Simmonds recorded a gross score of 91 to take the grade’s gross prize. Aiden Butcher claimed the nett honours with a strong 68, with James Cable runner-up on 72.

In the ladies’ competition, Zoe Tomlinson took the gross title with 86, while Lisa Kelly won the nett competition with 71. Karen Fenton finished just one stroke behind to take the nett runner-up position with 72.

There was also plenty of competition for the nearest-the-pin prizes, with Glenn Stanford taking the fifth, Jye Manton the eighth, Josh Orman the 12th and Mark Fielder the 16th.

The action wrapped up on 6 September with another nine-hole stableford medley. Shane Rily finished on top with 20 points, while Shannon Rily claimed runner-up honours with 18 points after a countback.
