Create Festival is Narrabri Shire’s annual celebration of arts, culture and creativity, bringing together artists, performers, makers and the wider community.

Across the festival, exhibitions, workshops, performances and cultural experiences will showcase the talent, stories and creative spirit of the region.

Friday 2 October

Official unveiling of the wedge-tailed eagle and sand goanna sculptures

6.30pm | Narrabri Visitor Information Centre

The festival will begin with the unveiling of two significant public art sculptures celebrating Aboriginal culture and the unique natural heritage of Narrabri Shire.

CREATE Festival opening night

7pm | The Crossing Theatre

The official launch of CREATE Festival 2026 will feature the opening of the festival exhibition, a complimentary welcome drink, canapes, live entertainment

and the unveiling of a new public art sculpture.

Held at The Crossing Theatre, the exhibition will remain on display throughout CREATE Festival 2026.

Friday 9 October

“As the Rivers Flow” exhibition opening

6–9pm | Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre

The Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre will present the unveiling of Tiddalick – The Frogs of Wee Waa Community Art Installation as part of CREATE Festival.

Narrabri Portrait Prize – opening night

6–9pm | Tourist Hotel

The inaugural Narrabri Portrait Prize will celebrate the people who live in, have shaped, or remain deeply connected to Narrabri Shire.

The exhibition features a selection of painted, drawn and mixed-media portraits by local and visiting artists, highlighting the stories and connections that contribute to the character of the region.

The exhibition will remain on display at the Tourist Hotel until 23 October.

Saturday 10 October

Rhythm and Flow

10.30am | Narrabri Art & Craft Society, 35 Dangar Street, Narrabri

Presented by the Narrabri Art & Craft Society Inc., Rhythm and Flow is a members’ exhibition featuring a collection of art and craft inspired by water.

The Betty Berriman Prize for Best Exhibit will be awarded, with refreshments and entertainment also provided. Everyone is welcome.

Narrabri Portrait Prize – In Conversation With…

6.30–8.30pm

Artists participating in the inaugural 2026 Narrabri Portrait Prize will come together for an evening of conversation, connection and creativity.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear directly from the artists behind the portraits, meet fellow art enthusiasts and enjoy canapes and networking, with special guests also joining the event.
