The rugby league career of Wee Waa boy Braydon Trindall has reached a new high after the Sharks’
five-eighth finished second in the Dally M.
Players and club officials gathered for the NRL’s night of nights last Wednesday, held at The Cutaway in Sydney.
Trindall was a consistent performer in the count for the league’s highest honour.
When votes went silent after round 12, Trindall was sixth in the count on 23 points.
Trindall moved to fourth place after round 18 on 38 points.
Trindall made a huge leap as counting continued and was in
second spot on 53 points behind the Panthers’ Nathan Cleary on 56 points by round 23.
He dislocated his shoulder in the Sharks’ round 24 clash and didn’t return to the field until the finals series.
Trindall had delayed surgery so he could play finals football and
featured in the Sharks’ two finals fixtures.
Sharks media reported late last week that Trindall had shoulder surgery early this month with an aim of being fit and firing for round 1 of the 2027 season.
“Trindall faces a four-five-month recovery period and will start rehab at the club next month after his time off,” Sharks media reported.
Trindall finished the Dally M count in second place on 53 points, with the NRL’s top honour going to Cleary on 67 points.
Cleary accepted the accolade in a televised address while recuperating at home following surgery on a compound fracture sustained in the Panthers’ clash with the Knights.
The Dally M night was one to remember for Trindall after also being named in the 2026 NRL Team of the Year as a five-eighth.
Trindall, the Sharks’ No. 6, broke the club record for try assists in a season with 33 and was instrumental in helping the Sharks reach the semi-finals.
Trindall told Sharks Media he’s “really proud to receive this award and to be named amongst some amazing players in the team of the season, but I’d give it all back to be in the big game with my best mates on Sunday”.
“Congratulations to Nathan (Cleary) and Tamika (Upton) on their wins, and good luck to all the teams playing this weekend,” Trindall said ahead of last weekend’s NRL grand final.
At the Sharks’ recent Porter Gallen presentation night, Trindall was also among the awardees.
Trindall was named as the club’s Members’ Player of the Year winner.
