The countdown is now on for the completion of the multimillion-dollar upgrade of the Violet Street bridge with the structure now taking shape ahead of its expected completion in November.
The concrete pour for all four spans of the bridge deck was completed last week.
Narrabri Shire Council has provided an update on the project, detailing work that is continuing on the bridge approaches and supporting infrastructure.
“Subject to any unforeseen delays, the Violet Street Bridge remains on track for practical completion in November,” the council’s update read.
Earthworks are progressing on the Tibbereena Street approach, while stormwater pipes and pits have been completed for both approaches.
Installation of the upgraded 300mm water main is also underway, with work completed between the bridge and Tibbereena Street.
Installation is continuing on the Selina Street side of the bridge.
The next stage of construction will include concrete placement for the link slabs on the deck, as well as the construction of kerbs and pathways across the bridge.
Work will also continue on the road approaches, including kerb and gutter construction and shared pathways to connect with the existing network.
Other upcoming works include installation of the bridge barriers, completion of the 300mm water main installation and new overhead streetlighting.
