Yes, there will be a Christmas Fair in Narrabri.
Narrabri retailers have banded together to ensure that the community festive spirit lives in Narrabri in the shopping days leading up to Christmas.
The Maitland Street Christmas Fair will be staged on Thursday evening, December 19.
Stores will be open for late night shopping, with Christmas specials in store, there will be food and entertainment in the main street.
Main street retailers Shawn Wales, ‘The Grayhound’, and David Pierce, ‘Authentic Trademarks’, have launched the Maitland Street Christmas Fair and have found enthusiastic support from CBD businesses and the community.
“We have canvassed the retailers and everyone is very happy to be part of the event,” said Shawn.
“It will be a Christmas shopping night and we hope everyone will come together for a night out.
“Maitland Street will not be closed off to vehicles. We will have market stalls on the footpaths, Rotary has agreed to put on a barbecue and there will be other food outlets,” said Shawn.
Santa Claus will be there with lollies for the kids.
Development of the Christmas Fair is a work in progress. If anyone has anything to suggest or offer in music or entertainment for the night, please contact Shawn or David.
“The Fair will start from 4 and go until 9pm,” said Shawn.
Shawn said Chamber of Commerce president Russell Stewart and the Chamber members had worked hard for many years to stage the traditional Christmas Carnival, ‘an amazing night.’
“We really appreciate everything that has been done in the past and understand that the Chamber is focussing now on staging the regular ‘Back to the ‘Bri’ festival.
“But we felt that we definitely need a Christmas Fair to complement late night shopping.
“We appreciate all that Russell and the Chamber has done for many years with the Christmas Carnival but I felt now it is my turn to put my hand up.”
Shawn said the Christmas Fair organisers hoped to encourage the whole community to come out on Thursday night, December 19 and enjoy the Christmas festive atmosphere and late night shopping.
“We either need to rent a crowd or create one – we want to encourage everyone to come along and be part of the festive community event.”
