The 2019-20 Coates Hire Namoi Super Slog T20 competition will return tomorrow evening as all four sides take part in important matches.
In the third round of the season the two undefeated sides – Specialised Civil Services and Carla Baxter Real Estate – will go head-to-head at Hogan Oval.
The winner of that match will sit in outright first position on the ladder at the halfway point of the regular season.
The other match will be played at Collins Park which will see the two winless sides – Priag Marketing and Rose Pest Control – face off.
Both of those teams are currently two wins from second place, however the winning side would finish round three just one win behind that second grade final spot.
The second round of the season was contested on Friday, December 20.
At Collins Park, Carla Baxter Real Estate defeated Priag Marketing by 45 runs, and at Hogan Oval, Specialised Civil Services downed Rose Pest Control by 51 runs.
Carla Baxter Real Estate scored 7-123 which was set up by opener Hamish Duncan (45) and fourth batsman Cooper Brayshaw (41) who combined for an 89-run partnership after their side fell to 2-1 after 1.2 overs.
Priag Marketing’s best with the ball was skipper Lachlan Cameron who took the big wickets of Duncan and Brayshaw on his way to a 3-17 from three overs.
Nathan Trindall (2-13 from three overs) was the team’s other wicket taker, while Jade Lees and Chris Watkins chipped in with run outs.
Priag Marketing lost four early wickets to stumble to 4-24 and despite Josh Trindall’s best efforts with a team-high 18 runs, the team could not recover, losing its final wicket in the 18th over to fall 46 runs short of victory.
Specialised Civil Services’ win was also a clinical one.
It batted first against Rose Pest Control and the team’s top order fired as openers Nick Smart (35) and Daniel Kahl (23) and number three batsman Daniel Hamilton (26) all made handy contributions.
Chris Sargent (25) and Jakeb Nipperess (10*) also chipped in at number five and seven respectively as their team finished on 6-141.
Specialised Civil Services could not bowl Rose Pest Control out in the second innings, however restricted them to 8-90 to secure a 51-run victory.
