Narrabri Red Cross has launched a local appeal to help victims of the current bushfires.

“We know that people are wanting to help in this emergency,” said Narrabri Red Cross branch president Max Pringle.

“Red Cross members will be manning a stall in Maitland Street from Monday, January 13 to Friday 17.

“We will be seeking cash donations.

“The fire relief agencies have clearly said they have plenty of food, clothes, household items – but they do need cash.

“Cash is the most effective help we can provide.

“This has been emphasised by the welfare authorities.

“We are asking that people donate anything – $1 will help. Every dollar counts and it all adds up,” said Mr Pringle.

“The money donated will be forwarded to Red Cross head office and distributed as part of the assistance for recovery – only to the people who need it.”
