Thousands of motorists were caught illegally using their phone while driving during week one of the NSW Government’s mobile phone detection camera program before Christmas – 3,303 drivers in 773,532 vehicle checks were spotted by fixed and mobile trailer-mounted cameras at various locations across the state. At this stage the drivers only get a warning letter, but fines will apply in future.
