Several Narrabri lady bowlers travelled to Wee Waa on Tuesday, March 3, to participate in the Namoi District Friendship Day.

Bowlers also travelled from Lightning Ridge and Moree to join Wee Waa ladies at the event.

Winners on the day were Lesley Price, Jan Ethridge and Cecile from Narrabri and runners-up were Carol Demamiel (Narrabri), Lorraine Bartel (Moree) and Lyn Carney (Lightning Ridge).

Narrabri pennant ladies also travelled to Wee Waa on Sunday, March 8, for their first round of pennants.

The overall score for the morning was 38-27 to Narrabri.

The team of Marie Redman, Lyn Wedesweiler, Mary Wheeler and Eva Sadler won 23-8.

The team of Helen Woodward, Cindy Neil, Val Falkiner and Rhonda Welchman were down 15-4 on the 12th end but went on to score 11 points over the next five ends to make the score 15-all.

Wee Waa then scored one point on each of the last four ends to win their game 19-15.

The lady pennants will be played in Narrabri this weekend with Narrabri playing Lightning Ridge on Saturday morning then Wee Waa on Sunday morning.

As it was necessary to cancel the first round of the Club Singles Championships on Thursday, March 5, and Saturday, March 7, they will be reprogrammed to Thursday, March 19, and Sunday, March 22.

To avoid the programme getting further behind Sunday will be the day for the weekend match to allow the pennant players to play as they will be in Lightning Ridge on the Saturday.

Anyone can arrange to play their matches earlier if they wish by notifying the match committee, marker and green keeper and adding the date they are playing on the prearranged match sheet which is on the notice board.

Thursday, March 12, is Bring a Friend Day.
