COVID-19 PIN issued to driver on the Kamilaroi Highway

Just before 1pm yesterday, officers from Central North Police District were patrolling the Kamilaroi Highway, when they stopped a vehicle at Brewarrina.

Officers spoke with the driver, a 41-year-old woman, who could not provide a reasonable excuse for not being at home and allegedly had camping equipment.

NSW Police reported that she was issued infringement notices for defected tyres, not obey police direction, exceed speed more than 20km/h, and fail to comply with notice direction in relation to section 7/8/9 – COVID19.

Meanwhile NSW Health announced this morning that as at 8pm on Sunday, April 19, an additional six cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW since 8pm on April 18, bringing the state’s total to 2,963.

There are currently 249 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health including 22 people being treated in intensive care units, with 15 of those requiring ventilators. Of the 249 people currently being treated, 196 (79 per cent) are in non-acute care.

There has been one death related to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

A 94-year-old man, confirmed positive for COVID-19, has passed away. He was a resident of Anglicare Newmarch House.
