Narrabri Rugby League Football Club has appointed Hayden Bell as its first grade head coach for the 2027 Group 4 season, with Brodie Rumsby joining him as assistant coach as the Blues continue to build for the future.
Bell’s appointment sees a familiar face again take charge of the club’s top-grade side, with his connection to the Blues extending well beyond his playing career.
The club said Bell had continually demonstrated his commitment to Narrabri, from running out for first grade to helping recruit players, coaching and supporting those around him.
His loyalty and belief in the club had remained unwavering, making him a fitting choice to lead the side into the 2027 campaign.
Rumsby will work alongside Bell as the club looks to build a competitive first grade outfit, with both coaches sharing a strong connection to the jersey and a desire to see the Blues succeed.
The appointments form part of Narrabri’s broader coaching announcements ahead of next year’s season, with the club also confirming its reserve grade and under 18s coaching teams.
Jason “JJ” Petrie will return as reserve grade head coach, with Daniel “Jobo” Jobson appointed assistant coach.
Petrie brings plenty of experience and a strong connection to the club, while Jobson makes a return to Collins Park to join the coaching ranks.
The pair will be tasked with strengthening the reserve grade playing group, developing players and building a positive team culture.
Lee and Luke Browning will reunite to lead the under 18s side, with Lee returning as head coach and Luke also offering coaching support.
The club said the pair’s long-standing connection to Collins Park and established relationships with emerging juniors would provide a strong foundation for the season.
Following a strong finish to the 2026 season, the under 18s will be looking to build on that momentum, with plenty of talent coming through the junior ranks.
As recently reported, the Blues have also welcomed a new committee which is eager to build on the hard work achieved in 2026.
The club has thanked the many sponsors for their belief in the Blues.
“The return of the Blues meant so much to our players, supporters and the wider Narrabri community, and we are incredibly grateful to every sponsor who stood behind us and helped make it happen,” the club said in a recent statement.
“Your support goes far beyond sponsorship. It helps build our club, strengthen our community and keep the Blue pride alive.”
Further updates for the Blues’ 2027 season will be shared in The Courier and Wee Waa News.
