Police are appealing for public assistance after an officer was injured on Tuesday.

“About 10.30pm (Tuesday  June 9, 2020), officers attached to New England Police District were patrolling the Boggabilla area, about 115km north east of Moree, when a rock was thrown at the vehicle,” said Police in a media statement.

Police will allege the rock hit the driver’s side window, causing it to shatter and injure a female constable inside the vehicle.

“She sustained minor injuries to her neck and arm and was taken to hospital for further treatment. She has since been released.”

Moree Police Officer in Charge, Inspector Martin Burke, said the incident was concerning.

“Violence towards police will not be tolerated in any circumstance, especially while we are trying to protect our community during COVID-19,” Insp Burke said.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information, video or dashcam footage of the incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Boggabilla Police Station on (07) 4671 9299.
