Sunday, June 21, is the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice, which has the least hours of daylight. It’s the shortest day of the year south of the equator and four hours and 31 minutes shorter in daylight hours than the December solstice. In the northern hemisphere it’s the opposite and is the longest day.
